How to Change Keyboard Backlit Color?

how to change keyboard color on asus rog laptops

  • Once you are sure that ASUS Core app is properly installed on your system, fire it open and take a peek at the main screen of the application.
  • On closer observation, you would find the "Zone Mode" option on the right side of the application screen. Click that 'Zone Mode' option and the drop-down will offer you 2 additional options to pick your choice of customization:
    1. All Keyboard Mode
    2. Multi-Zone Mode

Let's discuss each of these two modes separately to understand how similar, yet different they are from each other.

  • All Keyboard Mode

The 'All Keyboard Mode' as the name suggests offers color customization options for the entire keyboard. It offers 3 types of effects in particular (listed below) each with their own set of color options, and the ability to manage the tempo of the back-light:

    • Static: the color won't move and will be displayed on the entire keyboard
    • Breath: It gives you the flexibility to not only combine two different colors on the keyboard at a time but also set the 'tempo' of the lights interchanging in 3 different modes:
      1. Slow
      2. Medium
      3. Fast
    • Color Cycle: It interchanges the backlit color to all other color options available in the application.

Once you have customized all the Color settings according to your requirements, don't forget to hit the 'Apply' button to SAVE the changes, else the keyboard colors will revert to their DEFAULT settings.

  • Multi-Zone Mode

As the name goes, 'Multi-Zone Mode' comes with 4 zones each offering multiple color customization options. Additionally, you also get the option to manage the 'Tempo' of the interchanging lights in either of the two categories:

    • Static
    • Breath

One major advantage of having different zones is that you get multiple avenues of color options to pick from. Depending on the color you set for each of the zones, accordingly, the keyboard backlit color changes.

Again, don't forget to hit the "APPLY" button to SAVE your changes, else the keyboard colors will reset to their DEFAULT settings.

How to Change the Backlit Color Brightness?

Once you have changed the backlit color of your keyboard, you must remember changing the color brightness as per the need. The steps are simple and are listed below:

  • Observe the "Brightness" option just above the "Zone Mode" option at the top-right corner of your ASUS ROG Core Application.
  • Hold down the Left mouse key and drag the slider Left/Right to adjust the Brightness of your keyboard lights
  • Once the brightness is set according to your needs, release the Left mouse key and hit the "APPLY" button to SAVE your changes and close the application.
